tierra park 1991

can't remember who all was there, but some fraternity put on a race at tierra park in lincoln. schlake and I were tearing it up. use to be a bunch of dirt jump trails throughout the park. they looped us through just about all of it, along the grass next to the railroad tracks on the north side and around on the paved bike trail. this was probably oct/nov 1991, snort was beginning to come together.

I remember wet wooden bridges taking out half the field in that one. Didn't I pip you in the sprint for the W? I know I was in my 46x12 with the ground controls hookin up. Probably using my bar-ends for that extra leverage.

i was there. it was the fourth race i'd ever competed in.

remember how icy/slick the wood bridges were before the race, and during the first lap? that was insane... instant crashing action.

oh shit... schlake already mentioned that. shoulda' read the comments 'eh?

man, i forgot about the icey bridges. luckily they thawed out. bar ends were so new i did'nt even own a pair yet. i might have put a pair on after that race though.

yes, the baja's, i totally forgot what they were called. jimmy melton and i used to have jump challenges to see who could jump the farthest. i wheelied out on one and landed on my tail bone, that pretty much ended those days.

ah, the memories

Believe it or not, I was pledging that fraternity (Beta Theta Pi). The Actives kept us up all night cleaning (and drinking) and then we had to go out and set-up the course. I remember being so sick, tired and pissed. I quit the house about 3 weeks later...I live less than a block away from Tierra now and when I am running through there, I think about that race and smile. If you are trying to remember who I was...I was the dude with a mullet and bad acne. Tight.
